Englewood's 9/11 Memorial Service

Mayor Wildes held a special 9/11 memorial service on the front lawn of the library on Sunday, September 11, 2005.

Mayor Wildes said the service honored the five Englewood residents who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center four years ago and the Englewood emergency service personnel who responded to Ground Zero.

City Council members, key Fire, Police, and Englewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps officials, County officials, members of the victims' families, Library Board Trustees officials, local clergy, and Englewood residents joined the Mayor in this special event. Several people gave 9/11 readings at the service. There was also bagpipers, and "Taps" were played.

"Join us in remembrance at the exact moments when the airplanes struck the World Trade Towers as we re-dedicate ourselves to the members of our fallen friends and fellow citizens who are no longer with us," said Mayor Wildes.
