| ENGLEWOOD Inclement Weather / Flooding, 4.15.07 UPDATE: It is imperative that universal precautions be used at all times. Universal precautions include heavy duty, waterproof boots, and gloves. Water proof pants are advised. Keep hands away from face and eyes. Launder and dry clothing. After a major flood it is often difficult to maintain good hygiene during clean up operations. To avoid waterborne disease, it is important to wash your hands with soap and clean running water, including rubbing your hands together vigorously for at least 20 seconds, especially during work breaks, meal breaks, and at the end of the work shift.
When doing clean up in a basement for example an EPA approved tuberculocidal solution, as noted on the label, or use a 1-10 oz. ratio solution of bleach and water. Bleach should not be mixed with any other substance except water. For further information please refer to our web site at http://www.bergenhealth.org . * * * Please be advised that due to
the excessive rains, many of the brooks/streams and sewer system within
the City of Englewood have breached their capacity and have risen above
their normal levels causing flooding in streets and in homes. As a result
of the rain and water levels, power outages have resulted in certain parts
of the City and some residents have been trapped in their homes. Please
be further advised, that Emergency Personnel are blocking off certain
streets (Florence, Forest, etc...) and door to door inspections are being
conducted to ensure the safety of residents on flooded streets.
