FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 2, 2008 CONTACT: Bonnie Sheppard /Patricia Johnson 973-430-7734
(May 2, 2008) Public Service Electric & Gas , New Jersey 's largest utility, is upgrading gas facilities in Englewood to ensure safe, reliable utility service for area residents and business owners. PSE&G will be installing a new gas line in Englewood , with the project starting on Maple Street . The work will be done in segments beginning on or about the week of May 5 and is expected to be completed by the beginning of July. Scheduled work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. No night or weekend work is planned.
Construction will be at the following locations:
“Upgrading our gas pipes is essential to ensure the integrity of the system and reduces the potential need for emergency openings in the roadway,” said Art Guida, the utility's director of external affairs. “PSE&G representatives have been in contact with municipal and county officials and emergency responders to help ensure public safety and the project's success.”
There will be some lane restrictions and minor side road closings while the work is in progress. No major disruption in road traffic is expected, and PSE&G regrets any inconvenience the project may cause. For everyone's safety, PSE&G crews use work area protection – traffic cones, utility work signs and flaggers – to allow the job to be done safely. The utility reminds motorists to slow down when driving through the area.
