Proclamation

  

   WHEREAS, the Korean American Association of New Jersey will be celebrating the Third Annual Korean Thanksgiving Day ( “Ch'usok' ) Festival of New Jersey on Sunday, September 26, 2004; and

 

   WHEREAS, Korean-American citizens in New Jersey continue to make immeasurable contributions to the social, cultural, and economic life of the Garden State through the incorporation of their rich spiritual and cultural heritage and their dedication to the principles and responsibilities of good citizenship; and

 

   WHEREAS, Ch'usok is a celebration of those values which we hold dear in our hearts, such as the importance of family, respect for elders, and thanksgiving for the bounties of life; and

 

   WHEREAS, this festival presents an opportunity to share one of Korea 's time-honored traditions with all the citizens of the State of New Jersey ; and

 

   WHEREAS, traditional culinary treats and cultural entertainment will be presented under the able leadership of the President of the Korean-American Association of New Jersey, Mr. Jay J. Kim; and

 

   NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael J. Wildes, Mayor of the City of Englewood, do hereby proclaim Sunday, the 26 th of September, 2004 be known as Korean Thanksgiving Day Festival of New Jersey and do urge all the citizens of the City of Englewood to pay honor and tribute.
