Englewood 2006 General Election Results

Mayor Michael Wildes clinched a second mayoral term Tuesday, beating independent Democratic challenger Bob Stern, 4,379 to 2,325.
 

"I'm humbled by the outstanding support," said Wildes, an immigration lawyer and national Democratic fund-raiser.

Republican businessman Baruch Y. "Bruce" Prince trailed with 372 votes. In the council race, Assemblyman Gordon Johnson siled to victory, beating first-time Republican candidate Harry Kanner, 4,852 to 1,377.
 

The five-member council remains uniformaly Democratic. But Johnson, a former Bergen County sheriff and Englewood cop, will join his political allies to form a four-member majority bloc. That could politically isolate 4th Ward Councilman Jack Drakeford. The bloc is united by its opposition to Bergen County Democratic Chariman Joseph Ferriero and its cautionary approach to the building room.
